The Ahhh Series: Meditation+Yoga+Breath

Satya Tunstall’s June class series will open with meditation, move into becoming aware of the physical body and bridge the gap between mind-body (yes, Vinyasa yoga).  Breath work will open new pathways to awareness and you will leave the class uplifted, grounded, recharged with vitality and with an open peaceful heart.

Satya noted, “with my experience in dance and my understanding of anatomy, kinesiology and movement, I am presently dedicating my life to yoga and inspiring practitioners to find their own inner voice and empower them to find their own innate grace and joy.”

The Ahhh Series met twice a week in June 2016 and is now complete.
Tuesdays at 9:30 - 10:38 am on 6/7, 6/14, 6/21
and
Thursdays at 9:30 - 10:38 am on 6/9, 6/16, 6/23

Each class is 68 minutes, the last 8 minutes provides Satya the opportunity to take you into a deeper shavansana to help re-set a peaceful mind.  Classes will accommodate all levels and first timers welcome!

But, don’t delay.  Classes are intentionally small in capacity – only 9 spots! -- to enable Satya to provide you the most personal attention possible, to give you space to move, and Rain simply likes the smaller class feel.

Rain offers the first class as complimentary and then the 5 class series is $60 (works out to $10/class).  And, if you are not able to attend the full series, your first class is complimentary and additional ones are $15/class, 4 classes for $40, or 3 classes for $30.  Please sign up today to hold your first session spot.

More on Satya's approach and style...
Satya creates an inviting, creative environment that immediately sets the perfect tone for an enjoyable and focused lesson.  I have benefited greatly from Satya's hands on approach to teaching where she offers corrections and expert advice on how to achieve the best results and she manages this in the most transparent of ways that the lesson flows effortlessly.  As one of Satya's students quoted, “she has outstanding technical and kinesiology awareness and knowledge and as she teaches she enlightens each student into finding their own innate grace and joy.”

As part of Rain’s give back model, 10% of your class fee is donated to a local non-profit.  Satya and Rain would like each attending student to provide the name of one of their favorite local non-profits.  We will randomly select one at the end of June to donate the funds.

Rain hopes to see you for The Ahhh Series!

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
8 week series

Are you looking for the ability to better cope with stress, change, and transitions in life?

Are you dealing with illness, pain or stress connected with your health and struggle with these issues?

Have you wanted to start a meditation practice to deal with stress or find life balance, but find it challenging or just haven't been able to establish a steady practice?

If you are nodding your head, the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), 8 week course may benefit you.  It is a secular and evidence-based stress reduction program.

Through understanding and investigating the triggers which cause stress, and which can diminish physical and emotional health, you will gain effective tools for dealing with the challenges life brings.  This course will teach you to identify stress triggers, understand and experience how these affect your mind and body, and develop mindfulness practices to bring about the change to lead you to more ease and balance as you learn to manage stress and life in a new way.  That said, MBSR it isn't a magic wand to instantly remove the stress from your life or bring everything back into balance overnight.

The course schedule consists of eight weekly classes (about 2.5 hours each) and one day-long retreat on a weekend. In this highly participatory and practical course, the series unfolds to include:
  • Sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful movement (gentle Hatha yoga) and the body scan
  • Group dialogue and discussions aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life
  • Individually tailored instruction
  • Daily home assignments
  • Guided audio streaming or downloads for home practice and a workbook
Throughout the program you will be consciously and systematically working with your own stress, pain and illness - and the challenges and demands of your everyday life.  Engaging with this course teaches you to mobilize your own inner resources for learning, growing, and healing and can transform your relationship to stress.  You will learn to access and cultivate your natural capacity to actively engage in caring for yourself and find greater balance, ease, and peace of mind.

Come to an orientation session (required and free of charge) to find out more about the course, what it involves, and the commitment you are asked to take on in the 8-week course.  This session will help you decide if the course is right for you. Attending the orientation is not a commitment to sign up for the course.

Nancy Boros will lead the series and trained at both the University California San Diego Medical School and University of Massachusetts Medical School, where MBSR was developed.  Please see Nancy's bio for more info.
